Membership

What is the difference between an Onsite and WEB member?

An onsite member can conduct previews and participate in auctions onsite, as well as preview and place reserved bids online.
A WEB member can participate in real-time auctions from anywhere, providing added flexibility in addition to the features available to onsite members.

Can I be a member even if I'm not registered for an invoice?

Tax-exempt sellers are also eligible for membership.
Please note the following for tax-exempt sellers.

The auction for tax-exempt sellers will start after the auction for taxable sellers in both the Regular and Zero-Yen Sections.

  • Listing information will specify if the unit is being sold by a tax-exempt seller.
  • Consumption tax will not be paid for vehicles sold by tax-exempt sellers.
  • A separate invoice will be issued for vehicles purchased from a tax-exempt seller; these purchases are not eligible for input tax credit.
  • Please inform us immediately if you have applied for or withdrawn your invoice number from the tax office.

Auction

When are auctions held?

Yokohama Site: every Friday from 11:00 AM.
Kobe Site: every Tuesday from 11:00 AM.
Auctions at both sites start at 11:00 AM and end around 15:00 PM to 16:00 PM.

Auction Date

How many motorcycles are being auctioned?

Yokohama Site: Average listing per auction in 2024 was 1,666 units (totaling 83,320units for the year).
Kobe Site: Average listing per auction in 2024 is 1,172 units (totaling 57,447 units for the year).

What types of motorcycles are listed?

Over the past five years, a wide variety of motorcycles ranging from small to large sizes, including both domestic and imported brands, have been listed.

How much is the average selling price?

Yokohama Site: In 2024, the average selling price was 296,000 yen for the Regular Section and 50,000 yen for the Zero-Yen Section.
Kobe Site: In 2024, the average selling price was 255,000 yen for the Regular Section and 60,000 yen for the Zero-Yen Section.

How many lanes are used for conducting auctions?

Yokohama Site: Auctions are conducted in six lanes. The Regular Section is held in lanes A, B, C, and D, while the Zero-Yen Section is held in lanes E and F.
Kobe Site: Auctions are conducted in four lanes. The Regular Section is held in lanes A and B, while the Zero-Yen Section is held in lanes C and D.

Web Services

Can I participate in real-time auction with my smartphone or tablet?

Yes. You can participate in real-time auction using an iOS・Android smartphone or tablet, or with a Windows・Mac PC.

Can I use web services in multiple devices?

Yes. You can conduct WEB previews, place reserved bids and search the auction market using multiple devices simultaneously even with a single contract.
No, for real-time auctions, you can only log in from one device per contract at a time.
You will not be able to participate from the previously logged in device if you login from another device.
You will have to add your membership contract if you wish to participate using multiple devices simultaneously.

Can my JBA.net password be changed?

Yes. You may change your password by clicking 「 Reset Password・Forgot Password」 in the Member's Login Page. A link to reset your password will be sent to your registered email address.

Auction Site Guidelines

What is the Preview Schedule?

Yokohama Site: Thursday before the auction from 10:00 AM to 21:00 PM, and Friday (auction day) from 8:00 AM until the auction ends.
Kobe Site: Monday before the auction from 10:00 AM to 21:00 PM, and Tuesday (auction day) from 8:30 AM until the auction ends.
WEB Preview and Auction Market Search services are available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Business Hours

Do you issue membership cards?

Yes. Membership cards are issued upon your first visit. Representatives must present a driver's license or another form of identification.
Driver's license or another form of ID and business card must be presented to the JBA employee.

Do you issue POS cards?

We will ask you on your first visit if you need a POS card and create one if necessary.

Can I bring acquaintances, customers, or family members to preview or participate in the auction?

No. The auction site is for members only; non-members are strictly prohibited.

Listing

Can I list motorcycles that are undocumented, totaled, or stolen?

Motorcycles without documents or those used in competitions may be auctioned if they are declared as such.
Totaled motorcycles due to accidental may be listed if they are secured to a cart and brought in, stand on their own, and can be pulled around.
Stolen motorcycles cannot be listed.
During the creation of listing data, the information will be cross-referenced with National Police records of stolen vehicles via the Japan Bike Auction Association system.
Motorcycles with missing, irregularly engraved, or partially unreadable chassis numbers cannot be listed.

Are there restrictions on motorcycles that can be auctioned?

Due to the minimal restrictions on listing criteria, a wide variety of selection are available in the auction.
We do not restrict motorcycles that can be listed unless they are stolen or have a problem with the chassis number.
Totaled motorcycles can be listed as long as they are secured to a cart and can be brought in, stand on their own, and be pulled around.

Can I list units other than motorcycles?

Yes, items like mobility scooters, kickboards, jet skis, go-karts, and electric-assisted bicycles with chassis number can be listed.
Consult with sales for individual cases.

Are transfer documents required when delivering motorcycles personally for auction?

No. Transfer documents do not have to be submitted at the same time as the motorcycle.
For late submissions of transfer documents, please bring or make arrangements to arrive at the JBA office by 16:00 PM the day after the sale.
Please use Letter Pack or courier service that can confirm delivery completion.

What is Deficit Adjustment for Zero-Yen Section?

JBA Auction has two sections.
Regular Section where the starting and minimum bid prices are set, and Zero-Yen Section.
All motorcycles auctioned in the Zero-Yen Section start at zero yen and are sold immediately. Below are the fees.

Listing Fee 0 yen
Selling Fee The Selling Fee is 50% of the sales price for motorcycles sold up to 8,000 yen.

With this fee structure, the buyer retains half of the sale price. (Note that transportation fees are not included in this fee adjustment)

How can multiple listings be monitored? (Please refer to your listing page.)

After logging in, you can monitor your listings through 「My Listing」 in the menu. Here, you can view the lot number, images, inspection details, and auction results. You also have the option to print the list in PDF format.

Purchase

Is there a limit on the total purchase amount (credit line)?

For security reasons, a credit limit will be individually set for each member upon completion of the membership process.

Is the credit line set based on the purchase price or the reserved bid amount?

The credit line is set based on the purchase price.

Do the fees vary depending on the bidding method?

No. The fees are the same regardless of the bidding method—whether you are bidding at the auction site, placing reserved bids online, or participating in real-time online auctions.

Auction Rules

How much is the increment for bids?

2,000 yen per bid increment for the Regular Section and 1,000 yen per bid increment for the Zero-Yen Section.

Is there a limit on the price range between the start price and the minimum bid price.

Yes, the limit is approximately 50,000 yen.

Are listed motorcycles inspected?

Yes, all listed motorcycles are inspected in both Regular and Zero-Yen Section.
Using JBA's own inspection standards and a navigation-type digital inspection system, multiple inspectors are assigned to inspect each motorcycle in a fair and neutral manner, covering the exterior, function, and overall inspection.
In addition, we are the only company in the industry that conducts drivability checks for functionality, thereby enhancing inspection accuracy, and we have achieved a complaint rate of less than 1% over the past five years.

Inspection Standards / Understanding Symbols

Are there measures in place against meter tampering?

We are a member of the Japan Auction Bike Association (JABA), and we cross-reference with the mileage management system and theft information, disclosing relevant details as appropriate.

Payment

How is payment settled for vehicles that have been listed and sold?

Payment is settled the next business day via bank transfer for motorcycles that have been listed and sold.

How do I pay for the motorcycle I won (method of payment)?

You can settle your payment via bank transfer or cash. Credit cards and cordless payments are not accepted.

For bank transfers, please ensure that your payment is credited to the designated company bank account by the due date as stated on the invoice.
Cash payments can only be made at the cash reception counter on the day before and the day of the auction at the auction sites.

Vehicle Transportation Procedures

Can you arrange transportation for purchased motorcycles.

Yes. Transportation can be arranged by filling-out the Purchased Motorcycle Transport Request Form
Transportation will be arranged automatically if you pre-register for automatic transport.
Transportation fees will be included in the auction statement of account.

Can the delivery schedule from each auction site be confirmed?

Yes. Estimated delivery timeline by prefecture is available on our website's transportation rates search page.
Members will be contacted by phone once the delivery schedule is confirmed by the transportation company.

Do you process plate number cancellation?

Yes, we process plate number cancellation for a fee of 3,000 yen per unit.

What is the JBA LINE Official Account?

The "JBA LINE Official Account" sends real-time emergency notifications during auctions. It also sends important announcements such as changes in auction rules, fees, and transportation costs, as well as auction suspensions and closures.
